The Time-Traveling Trumpet
Listen to audiobook
A Melodious Discovery
Nestled among the towering trees in the quaint trailer park, Edna’s cozy home always smelled of fresh cookies, especially when her mom was baking in their cheerful living room kitchen combo. Edna, her blue eyes sparkling with mischief, had a knack for finding adventure, even if it was just in the confines of her small, vibrant world.
One sun-dappled afternoon, while her mom was busy baking, Edna decided to explore the attic above their trailer, a small space that always sparked her curiosity. A colorful box caught her eye, half-buried under old quilts.
Inside, beneath layers of dust and time, lay a forgotten treasure: an ancient trumpet, its brass slightly tarnished and engraved with symbols that seemed to dance in the dim light.
"Wow," Edna whispered to herself, running her fingers over the cool metal. This was no ordinary trumpet, she could feel it.
Edna cleaned it carefully, her mind racing with possibilities. She raised the trumpet to her lips and blew gently. Instead of a note, there was a burst of warmth that rushed through her, making her dizzy and lightheaded.
The attic faded away, and she blinked into the unknown, unaware that she was about to embark on a journey neither she, nor history, could forget.
A Melodic Journey
Edna blinked once more, confusion sweeping over her as the warmth subsided. Instead of the familiar attic, she found herself standing in the midst of a bustling scene. The world around her was transformed: cobbled streets stretched under the headlights of military vehicles that rolled on tirelessly, their engines rumbling like distant thunder.
Wide-eyed, Edna tried to make sense of her surroundings. Soldiers in uniforms hurried past her, carrying crates and chatting in serious tones. The air was filled with the smell of oil and a hint of something smokier, like burnt wood.
"Where am I?" she whispered to herself, clutching the trumpet tightly. Her thoughts raced as she realized the truth—she was no longer in the present. The trumpet had sent her back in time, to a place she had only read about in history books.
But there was no time to marvel. She hurried off the street, ducking into the shadows of a nearby alley, concealing the trumpet under her yellow shirt. As she stood there, heart pounding, a stern voice cut through the air.
"Hey, you! What are you doing here?"
Edna turned to see a soldier approaching, his eyes narrowing as he stepped closer. Her adventure had only just begun, and she needed to think fast.
