The Dance Begins

Paris, the City of Lights, was alive today, buzzing like a busy beehive. Toby Tumblestone moved swiftly through the winding streets, his eyes darting from street performers to towering pastries in bakery windows. A juggler caught his eye, tossing scarlet balls high into the air, while a little girl giggled nearby, clapping her sticky hands together.

Suddenly, something flashed by his feet. Toby stopped, blinking at the strange little object spinning merrily on the cobblestones. It was an ivory coaster, whirling in the most peculiar dance.

“What are you doing here?” Toby murmured, hunched down to get a better look.

The coaster didn't answer, of course, but it seemed to twirl with a purpose. Feet shuffled past, unaware of the tiny spectacle taking place on the ground. Toby hesitated, caught between curiosity and a sense of something greater—a whisper of an adventure just waiting to unfold.

“Well, aren’t you a curious thing?” he said, finally deciding to follow its lead.

With each twirl, the coaster seemed to beckon, pulling Toby deeper into the heart of the festive street fair. His heart thumped with a strange excitement, as if he were tapping into a new kind of magic not yet understood—a magic tied not to flames, but to the mysterious pull of destiny.

Whispers in Cobblestones

Toby followed the ivory coaster as it spun and danced along the cobblestones, leading him deeper into the colorful heart of Paris. Just when he thought he might lose it, the coaster made an unexpected leap, landing gracefully in the hands of a girl standing amidst the crowd.

Toby blinked, surprised. The girl was about his age, with curly red hair quirking wildly above her head like a fiery sunrise. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with mischief, and she wore a purple dress sprinkled with daisy patterns.

“Looks like you've met my little friend,” she chuckled softly, holding up the coaster.

Toby scratched his head. “Your friend?” he asked, puzzled.

The girl nodded. “Name's Colette. This coaster's been with me for as long as I can remember. But it has never danced like this before.”

Toby tilted his head, intrigued. “Why now?”

Colette shrugged with a mysterious smile. “Maybe it knows something we don’t... yet.”

As she spoke, a subtle spark in the air suggested there was a lot more hidden beneath her knowing gaze.
