Platypus and the Lost Colors
Listen to audiobook
A Colorless Morning
Ms. Paintbrush Platypus woke early to the soft plop of rain against her window. She stretched, gazing at the usually colorful streets of Paintbrush Base. But what she saw made her blink twice. The world outside looked drained, as if someone had turned down the saturation button.
"Strange," she murmured, adjusting her purple mask and tightening her red cape. Folding her hands around her staff-sized blue paintbrush, she ventured outside.
The streets were eerily quiet. Normally bursting with the chatter of neighbors and vibrant chalk portraits, the pavements now seemed flat, lifeless.
She paused by a mural she’d painted last month—a parade of joyful kangaroos leaping across a rainbow. The kangaroo’s joyful hop seemed frozen, almost sad.
Determined to find out more, she decided to explore further, her heart filled with both worry and curiosity about what adventure this odd day might unfold.
A Colorful Clue
Ms. Paintbrush Platypus wandered the drab streets, her heart heavy. The once vibrant Paintbrush Base now resembled a grayscale sketch. She made her way to Scribble Street, where something caught her eye—a shop with a bright neon sign reading "Colorful Curiosities."
Inside, she found Mr. Herbert Hedgehog, a quirky humanoid hedgehog with spiky quills, a patched vest, and round glasses. "Oh dear," he muttered, searching through shelves of peculiar jars.
"What's wrong, Herbert?" asked Ms. Paintbrush.
"My magical palette has vanished! It held the colors of the world," he said, scratching his head.
A glimmer of hope sparked within her. "Do you know where it might be?"
Herbert hesitated. "I caught a glimpse of a strange, robotic traveler just before everything turned gray."
Ms. Paintbrush realized finding the palette could bring back the city's colors. "We must get it back!" she declared, a new adventure on the horizon.
