The Morning Palette

Ms. Crayon Zebra stood on the highest tower of her castle, watching the morning sun paint Savannah Metropolis in golden light. Her blue cape fluttered behind her as she stretched her arms wide.

"What a perfect day to create something beautiful!" she said, pulling out her favorite red crayon from her utility belt.

She aimed at a blank billboard across the street and fired a brilliant crimson blast. The color splashed across the surface, forming a magnificent rose that seemed to bloom before her eyes.

Below in the bustling streets, humans and animal citizens hurried to work. A rhinoceros businessman checked his smartphone while a family of meerkats waited at the crosswalk. Everyone seemed cheerful and energetic.

Ms. Zebra smiled at the vibrant scene. Her city was alive with color and creativity. Little did she know, somewhere in the shadows, someone was watching her every move with envious eyes.

The Gray Wave

Ms. Crayon Zebra was about to create another artwork when her phone buzzed. She pulled it out and gasped at the emergency news alert.

"BREAKING: Colors mysteriously vanishing across downtown Savannah Metropolis!"

She zoomed toward the city center at super speed. What she found made her heart sink. The rhinoceros businessman she'd seen earlier sat on a park bench, completely gray. His smartphone had turned black and white too.

"Sir, are you okay?" she asked, landing beside him.

He looked up with dull eyes. "I can't remember why I loved my job. Everything feels... empty."

Ms. Zebra noticed the meerkat family nearby. They huddled together, all gray, their playful energy gone.

"When did this start?" she asked the rhinoceros.

"About ten minutes ago. First the colors drained from that rose painting you made, then it spread everywhere."

Ms. Zebra's stomach dropped. Her artwork had somehow caused this disaster. She had to find answers fast before the entire city lost its spark forever.
