The Missing Crayon Crisis
Listen to audiobook
The Empty Shelves
Crayon Caribou Mermaid floated gracefully through the crystal corridors of her futuristic castle, her blue fish tail shimmering as she glided past walls lined with colorful artwork. Her white fur gleamed under the soft lights, and her glowing blue eyes sparkled with contentment.
"Good morning, beautiful!" called Luna, a deer maid with brown spots and a frilly white apron. She was dusting a rainbow sculpture with her feather duster.
"Morning, Luna!" Crayon Caribou Mermaid smiled warmly. "Have you seen my art supplies? I want to paint the sunrise today."
Luna's ears perked up. "They should be in the art room, right where you left them."
But when they reached the art room, something felt wrong. The shelves that usually overflowed with magical crayons stood completely empty. Even the special drawer where she kept her favorite silver crayon was bare.
"That's... odd," Luna whispered, her brown eyes widening.
Crayon Caribou Mermaid stared at the empty spaces, her tail twitching nervously. Without her crayons, how could she create anything at all?
The Emergency Board Meeting
Luna's ears drooped as she stared at the empty shelves. "We should tell the others right away."
They rushed to the main hall where Stella, a sheep maid with fluffy white wool and pink ribbons, was setting up breakfast. Her golden eyes widened when she heard the news.
"All of them? Even the special silver one?" Stella bleated nervously.
"Every single crayon," Crayon Caribou Mermaid confirmed, her tail swishing anxiously.
Suddenly, the castle's communication screen flickered to life. Mayor Thompson, a serious-looking man in a dark suit, appeared on the giant display. His gray hair was slicked back, and his brown eyes looked worried.
"Emergency meeting in the city boardroom," he announced. "All superheroes report immediately. We have a citywide crisis."
Behind him, Crayon Caribou Mermaid could see other officials in business suits frantically shuffling papers and pointing at charts.
"Crisis?" Luna whispered.
The screen changed to show reports flooding in from across Fairy Tale Utopia. Every artist, every creative person, every magical being who used colors for their powers - they were all missing their tools.
"This is bigger than just my crayons," Crayon Caribou Mermaid realized.
