Cho and the Mysterious Subway Sandwich
Listen to audiobook
A Surprise Discovery
Big Town buzzed with life as Cho walked through its busy streets, his eyes wide with wonder. The tall buildings seemed to touch the sky, and the shops overflowed with colorful signs and bustling people. Cho, a curious seven-year-old with messy black hair and a red t-shirt, felt like an explorer in this vibrant city.
As he meandered through the crowds, a colorful sign caught his eye. It led him to a tiny sandwich shop squeezed between two giant stores. Intrigued, Cho stepped inside.
"Hello there!" greeted the shop owner, a middle-aged man with gray hair and a quirky smile. He wore an apron and had sparkling green eyes. "Fancy a sandwich?"
Cho smiled back. "Sure! What's the special today?"
The vendor's smile widened. "Ah, today's special is a bit...magical." He handed Cho a submarine sandwich wrapped in shiny foil.
Cho's eyes gleamed with curiosity. "Magical? How?"
"Enjoy it and find out," the vendor winked.
Taking a bite, Cho felt a strange sensation, like a gentle tug. The shop seemed to blur, and suddenly, he found himself standing at the entrance of a hidden tunnel.
"What just happened?" Cho whispered, looking back at the shop, now far behind him.
Discovery
Cho took a deep breath, peeking around the hidden tunnel. The dim light danced on ancient walls, casting shadows in all directions. He felt a thrill of excitement mixed with a bit of fear as he touched the walls and noticed strange symbols - a mixture of stars, waves, and unknown letters. “Seems like we’re not in Big Town anymore,” he whispered to himself.
Suddenly, the peculiar vendor from the sandwich shop appeared out of the shadows. “Welcome to the hidden past,” he said. “These tunnels hold the secrets of Big Town. Would you like to uncover them?”
Cho nodded eagerly. “But how do we start?”
A soft glow illuminated the tunnel again, this time from a small bronze lamp floating above Cho’s head. “First, believe in yourself,” said the lamp with a rhyming tone. “For in these tunnels, you won’t be alone.”
Cho's eyes widened. “You can talk!”
The vendor chuckled, “Meet Lampy, my loyal helper. He’s full of wisdom and light.”
Lampy floated closer to Cho. “The symbols are clues to the city below, follow them and soon you’ll know.”
Feeling a bit braver, Cho followed the symbols, with the vendor and Lampy guiding him. Laughter echoed through the passages as they told stories, admired the ancient carvings, and dreamed of what lay ahead.
