The Whisper of Shadows

Kai gently tucked in Sofia, her favorite stuffed rabbit snug under her arm. "Sleep tight, Sofia," he whispered softly, changing the room's light to a warm, comforting glow. His sister mumbled a sleepy "Goodnight," already drifting into dreams.

Content that Sofia was at peace, Kai slipped quietly into his own bed, letting his thoughts wander to the hum of city life outside. Just as he began to fall into a deep slumber, a peculiar white light filtered through the window, hypnotizing to behold.

The light filled the room, an unearthly sensation creeping through Kai’s chest, making him feel both heavy and light. Suddenly, all went dark.
