Sunshine's Time Loop Mystery
Listen to audiobook
A Day Incoming Twist
Sunshine sprinted down the bustling streets of New York, her ponytail bouncing along like it had its own personality. "Morning, Alex!" she chirped, spotting her best friend.
"Ready for the quiz today?" Alex asked, adjusting his striped blue shirt.
"Absolutely! I'm nailing it this time," Sunshine grinned.
They swept through the bustling city crowd, dodging pigeons and glimpsing park greenery, as skyscrapers loomed around them. School awaited, and so did the history quiz Sunshine had prepared for the night before.
But something felt off the moment she stepped into class—the familiar chatter, the same doodles on the board as yesterday.
As Mrs. Green repeated the lesson word for word, a chill prickled Sunshine's skin.
"Alex," she whispered, "isn’t this... repeats of yesterday?"
He blinked, unaware, and Sunshine's heart lurched. Today was somehow yesterday.
A Day of Double Deeds
Back at her school desk, Sunshine blinked, hoping today would be different. But the same giggles behind her, the same quiz paper, and the phrase "Quiz time, everyone," froze her heart. She glanced at Alex, who was already doodling like yesterday—or, today?
Trying to break the monotony, she rolled bold ideas around all morning. Yet, every time, the same puzzled eyes looked back, and Sunshine sighed.
Sneaking away to the school library after class, she was drawn to a dusty old section where a quirky old man with twinkly eyes caught her eye. Bent over a book titled "The Science of Time," his circus cane rested against the table. "Lost?" he asked with a raised brow.
"More like, stuck," Sunshine admitted, intrigued by his calm presence.
"Maximillian," he introduced with a nod, as if that explained everything. They shared an odd but comfortable talk about time, loops, and the peculiar boundaries of the day-to-day.
Meanwhile, a bulletin board buzzed with news of a school talent contest, adding an undercurrent of excitement and friendly rivalry to the day. It was another curve in Sunshine's day of déjà. She realized that to break free, maybe Maximillian wasn’t so peculiar after all.
