The Silver Morning

Kalyog pressed the blue button on his time-watch and grinned. The silver device gleamed against his jumpsuit as he stepped onto the moving sidewalk outside his apartment building.

"Good morning, Tech City!" he called out to the bustling street below.

Holographic advertisements flickered between the towering glass buildings. Flying cars whooshed overhead in neat formations, their engines humming like giant bees. A delivery robot rolled past, carrying steaming breakfast boxes to hungry customers.

"Time to check the weather settings," Kalyog said to himself, lifting his wrist. His time-watch displayed tomorrow's forecast in glowing numbers. He tapped it twice.

The screen flickered. The numbers started jumping around wildly.

"That's weird," he muttered, tapping the watch face again.

Instead of fixing itself, the display began showing yesterday's date. Then last week's. Then next month's.

A small robot helper, Zippy, rolled up beside him on tiny wheels. His round chrome head tilted with concern.

"Master Kalyog, your chronometer appears to be malfunctioning," Zippy beeped in his tinny voice.

The Spinning Numbers

Kalyog stared at his watch as the numbers spun faster. Suddenly, the flying car above him started backing up through the sky. A delivery robot rolled backward down the sidewalk, picking up breakfast boxes from confused customers.

"Zippy, look!" Kalyog pointed at a jogger running in reverse.

The small robot helper beeped nervously. "Master Kalyog, temporal displacement is occurring citywide."

A baker emerged from his shop, walking backward toward his door. Steam from fresh bread curled downward into loaves that were shrinking back into dough. Street signs flashed warnings in reverse text.

Kalyog grabbed his walkie-talkie. "This is getting worse by the second!"

The moving sidewalk beneath his feet suddenly changed direction, carrying him backward toward his apartment building. More people appeared, all moving in reverse - a woman undrinking her coffee, children walking backward to school.

"The chronometer malfunction is affecting everything," Zippy observed, rolling alongside the backward-moving sidewalk.

Kalyog pressed more buttons on his watch, but each touch made the reverse effects spread further. A flock of pigeons flew backward overhead, and even the holographic advertisements began playing in reverse.

"We need to get to Tech City's Time Center," Kalyog decided. "Before yesterday becomes tomorrow permanently!"
