New Keys and Old Dreams

Marissa fumbled with the shiny new keys, her hands shaking with excitement. The red brick townhouse stood before her like a birthday present wrapped in ivy and window boxes.

"I can't believe it's really mine!" she squealed, pushing open the bright blue front door.

Rosa peeked around the corner, her dark curls bouncing. "Did someone say party?"

Luna appeared behind her, grinning widely. "We brought supplies!" She held up three bulging grocery bags stuffed with chips, cookies, and candy.

"You two are the best!" Marissa hugged them both. The empty living room echoed with their laughter.

Rosa dumped pretzels onto the wooden coffee table. "House-warming snack attack?"

Luna tore open a bag of gummy bears. "Operation Sugar Rush begins now!"

Marissa grabbed a handful of chocolate chip cookies. "To my new house and my amazing friends!"

They clinked their soda cans together and dove into the feast spread before them.

The Hidden Treasure

Hours passed in a sugary blur. Cookie crumbs covered the coffee table like confetti. Rosa held up an empty bag of gummy bears.

"We ate everything!" she groaned, patting her rounded belly.

Luna sprawled on the floor, surrounded by candy wrappers. "I can barely move."

Marissa tried to sit up but felt impossibly heavy. Her stomach bulged like she'd swallowed a basketball. "We should probably stop."

But Rosa spotted something behind the couch. "Wait! There's more!" She pulled out three massive bags they'd forgotten - chocolate bars, marshmallows, and caramel popcorn.

"A treasure hunt!" Luna squealed, suddenly energized.

They attacked the hidden stash with renewed determination. Chocolate melted on their fingers. Marshmallows stuck to their teeth. The caramel popcorn disappeared handful by handful.

As midnight approached, all three girls lay on their backs, looking impossibly round. Their bellies rose like small mountains under their shirts.

"I think I'm going to explode," Marissa whispered.

"Same," Rosa mumbled, staring at the ceiling.

Luna tried to laugh but could only manage a small wheeze. "Best house party ever."

They fell asleep right there on the living room floor, surrounded by empty packages and crumbs.
