Morning at the Tower

Ms. Doodlebug Armadillo stretched all four arms as the morning sun painted her tower walls in golden light. The Doodlebug Armadillo Tower stood like a giant art supply box in the center of Canvas Zoo City, its crayon-shaped spires reaching toward the clouds.

"Another beautiful day," she said, adjusting her blue and black supersuit. Through her mask's blue bug eyes, she watched the city wake up below. Street vendors opened their colorful stands while children walked to school with bright backpacks.

Her breakfast alarm beeped from the kitchen. As she flew down the spiral staircase, something caught her attention through the window. Mrs. Patterson from the flower shop across the street was standing outside, staring at her roses with a puzzled expression.

Doodlebug pressed her face against the glass. The usually vibrant red roses looked... different. Duller somehow. Mrs. Patterson picked up one bloom, shaking her head.

"That's strange," Doodlebug murmured, making a mental note to check on her neighbor later.

The Gray Morning

Doodlebug finished her breakfast and flew outside to check on Mrs. Patterson. The flower shop owner stood among her rose bushes, holding wilted stems that looked completely gray.

"Mrs. Patterson, what happened to your roses?" Doodlebug asked, landing softly beside her.

"I don't understand it," Mrs. Patterson said, her brown eyes worried. "Yesterday they were perfect red blooms. This morning I found them like this - all the color just... gone."

Doodlebug examined the flowers closely. They weren't dead or sick. The petals felt healthy, but every trace of red had vanished, leaving them ash-gray.

"It's not just the roses," Mrs. Patterson continued, pointing down the street. "Look at the fire hydrants."

Doodlebug gasped. The bright yellow fire hydrants that lined Maple Street had turned the same dull gray. A woman walked by with a basket of what should have been colorful fruit - now all gray and lifeless.

"Something is stealing the colors," Doodlebug whispered.

Her communicator beeped urgently. The mayor's voice crackled through: "Ms. Doodlebug! Emergency at the town square! The fountain... all the colors are disappearing!"
