Gift from Grandma
America is a big country with tall mountains, long rivers, and exciting cities. Steven, a brave 12-year-old with a big imagination, lived in an old, cozy house with his grandmother. One sunny afternoon, his grandmother pulled out a dusty, ancient book from the attic.
She handed it to Steven with a twinkle in her eye.
"This book has been in our family for generations," she said softly.
Steven opened it carefully. Inside, he found a beautiful watercolor painting of a mysterious island and a note from his grandmother. "Adventures await," it read. Steven's curiosity sparked.
Whispers of the Waves
Steven stared at the painting of the island, his mind racing with possibilities. He grabbed his orange backpack and began packing essentials—a flashlight, a water bottle, and snacks—unlike his usual explorations. Just as he zipped up his bag, the doorbell rang. It was his best friend, Max.
"What's up, adventurer?" Max grinned, his green eyes sparkling with mischief. Max was an 11-year-old boy with tan skin and curly black hair, always wearing his favorite blue t-shirt and cargo shorts.
"You won't believe what my grandma gave me," Steven said, showing Max the ancient book.
"An old book?" Max raised an eyebrow, skeptical yet intrigued. "What's the big deal?"
"It's not just any book," Steven replied, his excitement palpable. "This painting—it feels like an invitation. Let's uncover its secrets!"
With a nod, Max slipped on his sneakers. "Alright, let's investigate this island together."
