Morning Routines
Ms Crayon Goat stretched her arms above her head as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the tall windows of her watchtower. The black and blue fabric of her supersuit caught the light as she moved across the circular room.
"Another beautiful day in Fairy Tale Land," she said to herself, adjusting her blue mask in the mirror.
From her high perch, she could see the entire kingdom spread out below. The Three Little Pigs were already busy rebuilding their brick house after yesterday's wind storm. Goldilocks walked past carrying a basket of fresh berries, waving up at the tower. Two women from the village held hands as they strolled toward the market square.
Ms Crayon Goat pulled on her cape and prepared for her morning patrol flight. She loved these peaceful moments before the day truly began. Everything seemed normal and quiet.
But as she stepped toward the window, a strange shimmer in the air caught her attention. The colors around her looked... different somehow.
The Strange Shimmer
The shimmer grew stronger as Ms Crayon Goat stepped closer to the window. Colors around her watchtower began to fade like someone was slowly draining paint from the world.
"What in Fairy Tale Land is happening?" she muttered, watching a bright red rose in her window box turn pale pink.
A tiny voice squeaked from somewhere near her boots. "Help! Down here!"
Ms Crayon Goat looked down and gasped. A small elderly woman with silver hair and a purple dress stood on the floor, no taller than Ms Crayon Goat's thumb. Wrinkles covered her kind face, and her bright green eyes sparkled with worry.
"I'm Granny Peppercorn from the market," the tiny woman called up. "Something terrible is happening! A villain with a rainbow-stealing machine is draining all the colors from our land. Everyone in the village is shrinking smaller and smaller as the colors disappear!"
Ms Crayon Goat knelt down carefully. "How can I help?"
"You need to get small like us to stop him," Granny Peppercorn explained. "But the shrinking process is dangerous. You might not be able to return to normal size."
Ms Crayon Goat felt her own body starting to tingle as the color-draining effect spread through the watchtower.
