Hunger and Discovery
In the heart of bustling London, young Allen roamed the streets wearing tattered clothes. The rumble in his stomach grew louder until he snatched a loaf of bread from a bakery.
"Stop! Thief!" shouted the furious bakery owner, giving chase.
Allen sprinted but stumbled. The owner caught him, snatching back the bread and hitting him harshly.
"Please! I'm hungry!" Allen pleaded.
But just as things seemed worse, a tall, kind man intervened.
"That's enough. He’s just a boy," the man said, pulling Allen away. Allen looked up, his blue eyes wide with hope.
An Unexpected Encounter
Allen gazed up at his rescuer. The man had a patch over one eye, long grey hair, and wore a long, dark coat. He crouched down and looked compassionately into Allen's bright blue eyes.
"I'm Mr. Thorne," he said. "What's your name, son?"
"A-Allen," he stammered.
Mr. Thorne nodded. "Come with me. You need food and a place to rest."
Allen hesitated but his hunger drove him forward. As they walked, Mr. Thorne's voice was kind, yet carried a mysterious note. He shared stories about London’s hidden wonders, fascinating Allen. Despite his rough look, there was undeniable warmth in Mr. Thorne’s eyes that made Allen feel safe for the first time in a long while.
