Island Morning

Cecily stretched in her enormous bed, sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows of her family's island mansion. The glass walls revealed palm trees swaying in the ocean breeze and crystal-clear water stretching to the horizon.

"This is the best vacation ever!" she announced to her empty room, bouncing up with excitement.

Her parents had surprised her with this tropical getaway, complete with a private chef and unlimited room service. The green-themed house sparkled with modern touches everywhere she looked.

Cecily grabbed her phone and scrolled through the resort's food delivery app. Pizza, burgers, ice cream, cookies, candy bars—everything looked amazing. Her finger hovered over the order button.

"Mom and Dad said I could have whatever I want," she whispered, her blue eyes gleaming.

She added item after item to her cart. Three pizzas, two milkshakes, a dozen donuts, nachos, and five different candy bars. Her stomach rumbled with anticipation as she hit "order now."

Cecily's eyes fluttered open to sunlight streaming across her face. Something felt different. Really different.

She tried to sit up and gasped. Her stomach had grown into a perfectly round basketball sitting on her lap. She poked it gently—it felt tight and firm like a balloon.

"What happened to me?" she whispered, staring down at her enormous belly.

The empty pizza boxes and candy wrappers scattered around her bed told the whole story. She remembered falling asleep while eating her third slice of pepperoni pizza.

Cecily grabbed her phone with shaking hands. Her parents were still asleep in the other wing of the mansion. She needed help fast.

"Island Medical Services," answered a cheerful voice after two rings.

"Hi, um, I have a really weird problem," Cecily said, her voice cracking. "My stomach is huge and round like a basketball. Can someone come help me?"

"Oh my! That does sound unusual. Dr. Bellweather can be there in twenty minutes. She specializes in extraordinary digestive situations."

Cecily hung up, still staring at her inflated belly. What had she done to herself?
