A Garden Like No Other

Emily bounded down the path, her paint-splattered shirt flapping behind her. Enthusiastic blue eyes took in every corner of Lakewood Apartments' garden as Lilyana, her fluffy white dog, trotted at her heels. The garden was alive, vibrant with laughter and the sound of splashing water.

“Last one to the playground is a rotten egg!” Emily giggled, sprinting past blue hydrangeas.

Caught up in the adventure, Emily glanced back, expecting to see her mother. Instead, she found only unfamiliar faces.

“Lilyana, where did Mom go?” Emily whispered, suddenly aware of the world around her.

The Whisper of the Pond

With a fluttering heart, Emily squinted her eyes against the bright sun, trying to make sense of the sudden disappearance. She placed a hand over her brow, creating a little shade shield.

“Mom? Mom!” she called softly, feeling a blend of worry and undeniable thrill.

Lilyana barked, pulling on her leash towards a patch of wildflowers.

"Look, Lilyana, maybe over there!" Emily suggested, curious.

As they neared the colorful blooms, a small voice piped up, "Lost someone, have you?"

Startled, Emily looked down and saw a small rabbit with twinkling green eyes. “I’m Thistle,” it chuckled, twitching its whiskers.

“Y-you can talk?” Emily stammered.

“Of course! Where dreams mingle with daylight, expect the unexpected," Thistle replied. “Listen, child of color, your mother wanders yonder. I can help if you follow the whispers of this garden."
