The Beautiful Village
Nicholas stepped through the stone archway into Lumindell, his ebony brown eyes widening with wonder. The village stretched before him like something from a dream. Colorful houses with curved roofs lined cobblestone streets, and magical creatures wandered peacefully between market stalls.
A blue-skinned fairy fluttered past his peanut brown newsboy cap, leaving sparkles in the air. Nicholas adjusted his tawny brown backpack and walked deeper into the village, passing a centaur selling fresh bread and a family of friendly gnomes playing music.
"This place is incredible," he whispered to himself, turning a corner near the fountain.
Suddenly, four figures emerged from the shadows around him. A tall half-werewolf man with silver streaks in his dark hair stepped forward. Beside him stood a graceful half-kitsune woman with fox ears twitching nervously. A young half-elf girl gripped a wooden staff, while a half-wolf boy bared his teeth.
"You don't belong here, human," growled the werewolf man.
The Sparrow's Message
Nicholas raised his hands peacefully. "Wait, I'm not here to cause trouble."
The half-werewolf man stepped closer, his silver-streaked hair catching the afternoon light. "All humans bring danger to our king. You must come with us."
"But I just wanted to explore," Nicholas said, adjusting his peanut brown newsboy cap nervously.
The half-kitsune woman's fox ears twitched as she whispered to the others. "The king will decide what to do with him."
The half-elf girl gripped her wooden staff tighter. "He could be a spy from the outside villages."
The half-wolf boy circled behind Nicholas, blocking his escape route. "No human has ever meant well for our people."
Without warning, a small sparrow landed on Nicholas's shoulder, chirping softly. The bird's presence seemed to calm the tension slightly.
"Even the forest creatures trust him," the half-kitsune woman observed quietly.
