The Riddle of the Cucumber
Listen to audiobook
Sunlight and Misadventure
In the heart of Sunflower Sunrise Valley, Princess Lillian twirled in her red dress, giggling as her brother Lyle rubbed his sleepy eyes.
"Come on, Lyle!" she called, her sparkling blue eyes shining brightly. "The world is waiting for us!"
Lyle, yawning and scratching his head of messy blonde hair, nodded slowly. "But where are we going, Lillian?"
"Anywhere but the castle," she replied with a warm smile, taking his tiny hand in hers.
The golden sea of sunflowers bowed gently as they walked through, the dewdrops on petals glistening like diamonds in the early morning light.
A Fork in the Flowers
As the golden blooms bobbed in the gentle breeze, Princess Lillian noticed something curious. "Look, Lyle!" she exclaimed, pointing at a peculiar figure ahead—a cucumber with googly eyes and a wide, playful smile.
Rubbing his sleepy eyes again, Lyle asked, "What is that?"
"Greetings, young adventurers!" the figure said, bowing slightly. "I'm Mr. Pickle, lover of riddles. Care to solve one?"
Lillian laughed, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Why not, Mr. Pickle?"
Mr. Pickle wiggled joyfully. "Wonderful! Answer correctly, and you'll find your way. Here's the first one: I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind. What am I?"
Lillian and Lyle exchanged puzzled looks, their adventure taking an unexpected twist.
