Emily blinked and found herself not in the cozy streets of her hometown, but surrounded by towering columns and bustling ancient architecture. Her floral dress felt strangely out of place among the togas of passersby.

"Uh, what just happened?" Emily murmured, capturing her reflection on a shiny bronze shield. "Is this... ancient Rome?"

She could hardly believe it. The Roman Forum unwound before her eyes like pages from her history book—but she was inside it!

Uncertainty tugged at her. How did she get here? And more importantly, how would she get home? Yet, curiosity nudged her to explore. She stepped forward cautiously, her sandals clinking on the stone pathway.

Just then, she noticed a person observing her from a distance—a mischievous smile crossing his face. "Lost, young traveler?" he called out. Emily hesitated, then started toward him, her heart racing with anticipation.

Unexpected Encounters

Emily squinted at the bright sunlight, her sandals barely making a sound on the ancient stones as she approached the boy watching her. His clothes were simple but well-made, and he wore a kind expression.

"Hello, I'm Lucius," he said, extending his hand with curiosity. "You seem a little out of sorts."

Emily took his hand, grateful for a friendly face. "I'm Emily," she replied, nodding at the surroundings. "This place is... unbelievable."

He chuckled, indicating the bustling marketplace nearby. "Let's take a walk. You might find it exciting."

They navigated through the crowds, Lucius expertly guiding her. "This forum has its secrets," he noted, leaning closer. "There's talk of a treasure hidden beneath it."

Emily's eyes widened with intrigue. "A treasure?"

"Aye," he confirmed, looking around as if the walls had ears. "But treasure brings trouble, and there are others searching for it too. We're not the only ones intrigued by its promise."
