In a town so quiet you could hear a butterfly sneeze, Sunshine skipped to school with her favorite bright yellow jacket swinging around her shoulders. Smells of freshly cut grass tingled her nose as she hopped up the school steps of Fernbrook Middle School.

“I heard there's a new guy in town,” Tess whispered next to her locker, her eyes darting around like ping-pong balls.

“A new student already causing a stir?” Sunshine grinned, adjusting her high ponytail. She could already feel something exciting brewing.

“They say he’s handsome, like a movie star,” someone exclaimed.
