The Whispering Paints of Feather Theater
Listen to audiobook
The Curtain Rises
The Feather Theater glimmered like a peacock in the evening light, its turquoise curtains swaying gently as they welcomed eager families. Inside, Jeanie peeked through a narrow gap backstage, her heart fluttering like the theater's namesake.
“Do you see them?” Bea whispered, standing beside her.
Jeanie nodded, her eyes quickly spotting Grandpa and Grandma in the audience, their warm smiles reassuring her. Her adopted sister, Bea, squeezed her hand reassuringly.
Jeanie was performing the big scene in the play tonight. As the curtains quietly shifted, she felt a mix of anticipation and nerves, the kind that only such a magical place could inspire. Would she find the confidence to shine?
A Heartfelt Silence
Jeanie took a deep breath as she stepped onto the brightly lit stage of Feather Theater. Her sparkling blue eyes scanned the familiar faces in the audience, landing reassuringly on Bea, Grandpa, and Grandma.
The scene commenced, but as Jeanie stood there, an unexpected wave of panic washed over her. Her voice refused to cooperate. Words wouldn't come out. The theater seemed to hold its breath with her.
A tiny, worried bead of sweat trickled down her forehead. That's when she recalled something special – a magic paintbrush, a gift from Bea, tucked discreetly in her bag. With trembling hands, Jeanie took it out and began to paint through the air, emotions flowing out as colorful swirls and shapes.
The audience's eyes widened in amazement as vibrant hues emerged, shifting and twinkling mid-air. Each stroke seemed to echo her emotions, forming a beautiful, silent song of colors.
Even without words, her message sang strong. As Jeanie continued, Bea's face lit up with admiration. The audience, mesmerized, sat transfixed.
With only a brush and vivid imagination, Jeanie found a new way to shine.
