Morning Interruption
Rayan stretched under his soft blanket, still dreaming of flying kites over Brightmoor's singing trees. Sunlight painted golden stripes across his bedroom wall.
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" His older brother Jake shook his shoulder. "Let's go for a walk by the sparkling river."
Rayan yawned and rubbed his ice-blue eyes. "Can't we sleep more?"
"The unicorns are out today. Come on!"
They stepped outside into the rainbow-painted sky. Colorful houses lined the path like a crayon box. As they walked toward the river, a tall man in a purple coat appeared from behind a whimsical oak tree.
"Boys," he called, his voice smooth as honey. "Follow me. I have something extraordinary to show you."
Jake hesitated, but the stranger's kind smile made them curious. They followed him deeper into Brightmoor's magical heart.
The Flickering Gateway
The stranger led them through twisting paths past singing flowers. Rayan's sneakers crunched on crystal leaves.
"Where are we going?" Jake asked.
"Patience, young ones." The man's purple coat swirled as he walked.
They reached a clearing where a shimmering portal stood between two silver trees. It hummed like distant thunder.
"This gateway leads to the Forgotten Realm," the stranger said. "But there's a problem. The portal is failing. Soon it will close forever, trapping the creatures inside."
Rayan stepped closer. The portal's edges flickered and sparked.
"Only the youngest among you can enter first," the stranger continued. "The magic recognizes pure hearts."
Jake grabbed Rayan's arm. "No way. It's too dangerous."
But Rayan stared at the portal, hearing faint cries from within.
