The Shimmering Shore

Princess Biancaneve walked along Crystal Clear Lake's smooth stone border, her blue gown rustling softly. The emerald water sparkled under the morning sun, and colorful fish swam beneath the surface.

"Why do the stones shine differently at night?" she wondered aloud, touching a particularly smooth pebble.

A voice answered from behind her. "Because moonlight reveals their true nature."

Biancaneve turned to see a woman emerging from the forest path. She had dark hair pulled back severely and wore a deep purple cloak that seemed to shimmer like the lake itself.

"I'm India," the woman said with a mysterious smile. "And you must be the princess who asks too many questions."

Biancaneve's eyes widened with curiosity. "How do you know about me?"

India stepped closer, her purple cloak rippling. "I know many things, Princess. But knowledge comes with a price."

"What kind of price?" Biancaneve asked, touching her tiara nervously.

India smiled mysteriously and pulled out a small, ornate box from her cloak. "This contains answers to questions you haven't even thought to ask yet. But once opened, you can never go back to not knowing."

A small otter popped its head up from the lake, chattering excitedly as if trying to warn them.

"Why would I want that?" Biancaneve wondered aloud.

"Because," India whispered, "your stepmother has a magic mirror that tells her terrible truths about the future. And you, dear princess, are in great danger."
