The Scissor Squad's Big Challenge
Listen to audiobook
Pink Scissors and Morning Mist
Yuki adjusted her scissor hairpins as she walked through the village of Nakaibito. The morning mist clung to the cobblestone streets, making her pink heels click softly against the damp stones. Her elaborate curls bounced with each step, and her scissors earrings caught the pale sunlight filtering through the fog.
"Another busy day at the salon," she murmured, checking her pink nails one last time before reaching for the door handle.
Inside the Magical Hair Studio, her friends Maki and Yuko were already arranging their tools. Maki's green hair gleamed under the salon lights, while Yuko's blue locks were tied back with ribbon.
"Did you hear about those boys?" Maki whispered, polishing her silver scissors. "The ones who refuse to get haircuts?"
Yuki's purple eyes widened. She had heard whispers around town about five boys with impossibly long, tangled hair.
"Their parents are getting desperate," Yuko added, shaking her head. "Someone needs to help them."
The three magical hairdressers exchanged knowing looks.
The Emergency Call
The salon door burst open with such force that Maki's scissors clattered to the floor. A woman with short brown hair rushed inside, her face flushed from running.
"Please, you have to help us!" she gasped, clutching her chest. "I'm Mrs. Tanaka from the elementary school. Five boys locked themselves in the music room and won't come out!"
Yuki exchanged worried glances with her friends. "What happened?"
"Three older boys cornered them during lunch," Mrs. Tanaka explained. "They had enormous garden scissors and were threatening to cut their hair. The five ran away screaming about never getting haircuts again."
Through the salon window, Yuki could see parents gathering in the street, their voices rising in frustration. Some were shouting about their sons looking like girls with their long, tangled hair.
"The bullies call themselves the Scissor Gang," Mrs. Tanaka continued. "Their leader, Ryusei, says he's going to give everyone 'proper' haircuts whether they want them or not."
Maki picked up her fallen scissors. "We need to get to that school right now."
"But how do we help boys who are terrified of scissors?" Yuko whispered.
The three magical hairdressers grabbed their supplies, knowing this would be their biggest challenge yet.
