A Break Worth Taking

Lila stretched her arms above her head and smiled at the golden sunlight streaming through her mansion's tall windows. The modeling agency had finally given her a break after months of photo shoots and runway shows.

"No schedules, no cameras, no posing," she said to herself, spinning around in the spacious living room. The marble floors reflected her colorful sundress as she twirled.

Her stomach rumbled loudly. When was the last time she ate without someone telling her to watch her portions? Lila wandered into the kitchen, her bare feet padding across the cool tiles. The enormous refrigerator hummed quietly, packed with every treat she'd been avoiding.

She pulled out a container of chocolate cake from her favorite bakery. "Just one slice," she whispered, but the creamy frosting looked too good to resist. One slice became two, then three.

Days blurred together in delicious freedom. Breakfast pastries, afternoon ice cream, midnight snacks. Lila discovered cooking shows and tried making elaborate meals. She ordered pizza when recipes failed spectacularly.

The Morning Mirror

Three weeks later, Lila woke up feeling heavier than usual. She shuffled to her bathroom mirror and gasped. Her face looked rounder, and her favorite pajamas felt tight around her middle.

"Oh no," she whispered, pinching the soft skin around her waist. Her modeling clothes hung in the closet like colorful reminders of a different girl.

Her phone buzzed on the nightstand. The modeling agency's name flashed on the screen. Lila's heart pounded as she answered.

"Hi, sweetie!" chirped Miranda, her agent. "Hope you enjoyed your break! We need you tomorrow for the Sunshine Sports campaign. Can you be here by nine?"

Lila stared at her reflection while Miranda chatted about lighting and poses. Her throat felt dry. "Um, Miranda? What if someone... gained a little weight during their break?"

"Oh honey, don't worry about five pounds. The camera adds weight anyway. See you tomorrow!"

The call ended. Lila looked down at herself. This wasn't five pounds. She grabbed her laptop and typed frantically: "How to lose weight overnight fast."
