The Copper-Haired Helper

Taco Ockerse adjusted his top hat as he walked down the cobblestone streets of Steam City. Brass pipes hissed overhead, releasing puffs of white steam that danced between the ornate buildings. The famous singer had come here for inspiration, but instead found himself fascinated by the clicking sounds of gears and the whir of mechanical inventions.

"Puttin' on the ritz, puttin' on the ritz," he hummed softly to himself, tapping his walking stick against the stones in rhythm.

A peculiar shop caught his eye. Through the foggy window, he spotted gleaming bracelets displayed on velvet. The sign read "Curiosities & Clockwork." Without hesitation, he pushed open the heavy door.

Inside, a young woman with short copper hair was bent over a workbench, tinkering with a tiny mechanical bird. Her clothing was intricately designed with brass buttons and leather straps. When she looked up, Taco noticed her eyes seemed to sparkle like spinning gears.

"Welcome!" she said brightly, setting down her tools. "I'm Jinn Sparks. Looking for something special?"

The Silver Trap

Taco's eyes widened as he examined a silver bracelet on the display counter. Intricate gears moved beneath its crystal surface, clicking softly.

"That one's special," Jinn said, wiping grease from her hands with a cloth. "It responds to music."

Without thinking, Taco slipped the bracelet onto his wrist. Immediately, the gears began spinning faster. He hummed a few notes of his favorite song, and the bracelet glowed bright blue.

"Fascinating!" he exclaimed, then tried to remove it. The bracelet wouldn't budge. "Oh dear, it seems to be stuck."

Jinn frowned and examined his wrist. "That's strange. It should come off easily."

Suddenly, the shop door burst open. Three rough-looking men in leather coats stomped inside, their boots clanking against the wooden floor.

"There he is!" shouted the tallest one, pointing at Taco. "The singer with the magic bracelet! Boss wants it back, and he's willing to pay handsomely for it."

Jinn stepped protectively in front of Taco. Her eyes, those gear-like mechanisms, began spinning rapidly. "I don't think so," she said firmly.
