The Hangout Discovery

Sage pulled his hood up as he slipped through the narrow alley behind the old comic shop. His dark eyes scanned the brick walls for the entrance Jacob had mentioned during lunch yesterday.

"There," he whispered, spotting a faded door marked with a small Garfield sticker.

The door creaked open to reveal a cozy basement room. Orange and black posters covered every wall - Garfield cartoons, comic strips, and what looked like show promotional materials. Bean bags scattered across the floor, and a small TV sat on a milk crate in the corner.

"Jacob wasn't kidding about this place," Sage muttered, adjusting his backpack straps.

Something felt different about the room, though. The Garfield posters seemed brighter somehow, their colors more vivid than they should be in the dim lighting. One poster showed Garfield dancing with a pink pony character he didn't recognize.

Sage stepped closer to examine it. The pony's smile looked almost too cheerful, too wide. He reached out to touch the poster's surface.

The paper felt warm under his fingertips.

When Posters Talk Back

Sage jerked his hand back from the warm poster. The pink pony's painted eyes seemed to track his movement.

"That's impossible," he whispered.

A soft giggle echoed through the basement. Sage spun around, but the room remained empty except for the scattered bean bags and dusty TV.

The giggle came again, higher pitched this time. It was coming from the poster.

Sage pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight app. The bright white beam illuminated the wall, and he nearly dropped the device. The pink pony in the poster was moving—actually moving—bouncing up and down next to a now-animated Garfield.

"Hi there!" The pony's voice bubbled with enthusiasm. "I'm Pinkie Pie! Isn't this just the most amazing Monday ever?"

Garfield in the poster rolled his eyes. "Monday? Amazing? Kid, you've got some serious problems."

Sage's mouth fell open. He looked around the room at the other posters. Every single Garfield was blinking, stretching, or making faces at him.

"This is nuts," Sage muttered, backing toward the door.

But Pinkie Pie's cheerful voice stopped him. "Don't go! We've been waiting so long for someone to visit us!"
