The Cat School's New Challenge
Amy bounced on her toes as she walked through the giant cat mouth entrance of Loving Hills Elementary School. The yellow eyes glowed above them in the morning sun.
"Look at this mess," Susan said, pointing her fin at the bulletin board. Torn papers scattered across the floor near the announcement wall.
Amethyst picked up a crumpled notice. "Teacher Appreciation Week starts Monday. All clubs must register today."
"Perfect!" Amy's green eyes sparkled. "We should make an art club for Mr. Sharkbite. He's the coolest teacher ever."
Susan crossed her arms, her light blue hair flowing. "Actually, we should start a storytelling club for Mrs. Woodfin. She teaches us amazing writing skills."
Mia fluttered her shimmering wings nervously between them.
The Hummingbird's Message
"We need to decide right now," Amy said, tapping her foot. "The deadline is today."
Ava swished her cheerful tail. "Maybe we could do both clubs?"
"That's silly," Susan snapped. "We only have five people."
A tiny hummingbird with emerald feathers zipped through the cat's mouth entrance. It carried a small rolled paper in its beak.
"Look!" Amethyst pointed as the bird dropped the paper near Amy's feet.
Amy unrolled it. "It's from Principal Martinez. She wants to meet with our group in her office right now."
The friends exchanged worried glances. Mia's wings trembled.
"Did we do something wrong?" Ava whispered.
Susan grabbed the notice. "It says 'urgent teacher appreciation matter.'"
