A Blue Visitor

Bules trotted down the sunny path, his red scarf fluttering in the warm breeze. His yellow backpack bounced gently as he walked, and his bright green eyes sparkled with curiosity about the day ahead.

A soft meowing caught his attention. Around the corner, he spotted a black and white cat sitting on a wooden porch, staring down at his paws with the saddest expression Bules had ever seen.

"Hello there," Bules called out cheerfully, his fluffy tail wagging. "I'm Bules. You look upset about something."

The cat looked up with big yellow eyes. "I'm Pete," he said with a heavy sigh. "And I just don't understand what's happening to me anymore."

The Colorful Problem

Pete lifted one paw and showed Bules a bright red sock. "Look at this! Yesterday my socks were white. This morning I woke up and they were red!"

Bules tilted his head, his green eyes wide with interest. "That's very strange, Pete. Do you have more socks?"

"Four pairs total," Pete said sadly. He walked to a small wooden box on the porch and opened it. Inside were three more pairs of socks, each a different color. "Blue ones, yellow ones, and green ones. They were all white when I bought them from the baker downtown."

"A baker sells socks?" Bules asked, surprised.

"Mrs. Whiskers bakes and knits," Pete explained. "She makes the softest socks in town. But now look what's happened to them!"
