Blue Patrol
Catboy zipped across the rooftops of downtown, his blue tail streaming behind him in the cool evening air. The city looked peaceful from up here, with warm lights glowing in windows and cars moving slowly along the streets below.
"Everything's quiet tonight," he said to himself, landing softly on the edge of a tall building. His cat ears twitched as he scanned the neighborhood for any signs of trouble.
A delicious smell drifted up from the Italian restaurant on the corner. Mrs. Giovanni's famous lasagna. Catboy's stomach rumbled. He hadn't eaten since lunch, and that cheesy, meaty aroma made his mouth water.
"Maybe I'll grab a slice after patrol," he thought, adjusting his blue mask.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from three blocks away. Catboy's head snapped up, his big blue eyes widening with concern. Orange light flickered against the dark sky.
"Time to see what's going on," he whispered, crouching low. With a powerful leap, he bounded across the gap between buildings, racing toward the disturbance.
The Orange Glow
As Catboy landed on the next rooftop, the crash came again. This time, he could see exactly where it was coming from. A massive orange creature was stomping through Giovanni's Pizzeria, twice as tall as the building itself. The monster had thick orange fur, enormous claws, and a face that looked strangely familiar.
"That looks like... Garfield?" Catboy whispered, his blue eyes widening in disbelief.
The giant cat-like beast smashed through the restaurant's front window and grabbed every single tray of lasagna in sight. Steam rose from the destroyed kitchen as terrified customers ran screaming into the street below.
"My beautiful lasagna!" Mrs. Giovanni cried from the sidewalk, tears streaming down her face as she watched her life's work disappear into the monster's enormous mouth.
The creature let out a thunderous burp that shook nearby windows. Then it turned its massive head toward Tony's Italian Deli across the street, where more delicious smells were drifting out.
"Oh no," Catboy muttered, crouching low on the rooftop edge. "He's going after every Italian restaurant in town."
The monster's glowing orange eyes locked onto Tony's neon sign, and it began stomping forward with earth-shaking steps.
