The Glowing Gateway
Orion pressed his nose against the museum's glass entrance, his violet eyes wide with excitement. The Quantum Quest Science Museum loomed before him like a giant glowing atom, its curved walls pulsing with soft blue light against the evening sky.
"Finally!" he whispered, adjusting his silver astronaut uniform. He'd been saving up for months to visit this place.
Inside, holographic planets spun lazily above his head while mechanical dinosaurs roared from the prehistoric exhibit. But Orion's attention locked onto a sleek black archway in the far corner. A sign read: "Virtual Reality Adventures - Experience Other Worlds!"
A museum guide with kind brown eyes and graying hair approached him. "First time here?" she asked, noticing his fascination.
"Yes, ma'am. That VR thing looks incredible."
She smiled. "It's our newest exhibit. You can explore alien planets, medieval castles, even the ocean depths. Just remember to exit properly when you're done."
Orion nodded eagerly, already imagining the adventures waiting beyond that mysterious archway.
The Sparrow's Warning
Orion stepped through the black archway, and the world dissolved around him. His feet touched soft grass beneath a canopy of towering oak trees. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating dancing patterns on the forest floor.
A small brown sparrow landed on a branch nearby, tilting its head at him. "Welcome, traveler," it chirped in a voice that sounded surprisingly human. "You've entered the Enchanted Grove challenge."
"You can talk?" Orion asked, adjusting his silver uniform.
"All creatures speak here. But listen carefully—the exit portal malfunctioned moments ago. You're trapped until you complete three impossible challenges across different worlds."
Orion's violet eyes widened. "Trapped? But the museum guide said to exit properly. How do I get out?"
The sparrow fluffed its feathers nervously. "The system thinks you're cheating if you don't finish. Each world becomes harder. Many have tried—none succeeded."
Thunder rumbled overhead, though no clouds were visible. The sparrow took flight, calling back, "Choose wisely, young astronaut. Your first challenge awaits beyond the silver stream."
Orion spotted the glinting water through the trees, his heart racing. This wasn't supposed to happen.
