The Blue Crayon Bakery
Listen to audiobook
The Tiger's Kitchen
Crayon Tiger stood at the top floor of his tower, staring at the empty kitchen space. The room stretched wide with gleaming counters and spotless ovens waiting to be used.
"Time for something new," he said to himself, adjusting his blue mask. Being a superhero was exciting, but he wanted to try something different. Something that would make people happy in a new way.
He pulled out his giant glowing blue crayon and twirled it between his clawed fingers. What if he could use his powers to create amazing treats? Not just ordinary cookies or cakes, but magical ones that would bring joy to everyone in Tiger Zebra Metropolis.
The idea made his orange and black striped tail swish with excitement. He could already picture families coming to his tower, leaving with boxes of wonderful surprises.
"The Blue Crayon Bakery," he announced to the empty room. "Perfect!"
His crayon glowed brighter as he began sketching his first recipe in the air.
The First Customer
Crayon Tiger waved his glowing blue crayon in smooth circles, and sparkling blue frosting appeared in the air. It swirled down into a mixing bowl with a soft plop.
"Perfect!" he said, watching the frosting shimmer. He drew cupcakes next, and they materialized on the counter—six fluffy treats waiting to be decorated.
A knock echoed through the tower. Crayon Tiger looked down through his x-ray vision and spotted a woman with short black hair standing at his front door. She wore a green apron covered in flour.
"Hello up there!" she called. "I'm Maya, the shoemaker from Tiger Zebra Avenue. I heard you're opening a bakery!"
Crayon Tiger flew down quickly and opened the door. Maya's brown eyes sparkled with curiosity as she looked up at the orange and black striped hero.
"I make shoes all day," Maya explained, "but I love trying new treats. Could I sample something?"
"Of course!" Crayon Tiger beamed. He flew back upstairs and returned with a crayon-frosted cupcake.
Maya took a big bite. Her eyes went wide, then she started giggling uncontrollably.
"This is so funny!" she laughed, spinning around on the sidewalk. "Everything looks purple and wiggly!"
Crayon Tiger's tail drooped. Something was definitely wrong.
