Morning in the Towers

Paintbrush Mother Goat stood at the tall window of the highest tower in Paintbrush Castle. The morning sun painted Canvas Valley in golden light below her. Seven little goat kids bounced around the room, their hooves clicking on the stone floor.

"Mama, look at the rainbow!" called Crimson, the smallest kid, pointing outside with her tiny hoof.

Mother Goat smiled and looked where Crimson pointed. A beautiful rainbow stretched across the valley after last night's rain. But something felt different today. The rainbow looked... faded somehow.

"That's strange," Mother Goat murmured, adjusting her blue-and-black dress and pulling her rainbow cape closer. Her golden eyes studied the distant mountains.

"Can we paint today, Mama?" asked Azure, tugging at her cape.

"Of course, my dear." Mother Goat reached for her giant magic paintbrush, which began to glow softly in her hands. But as she held it, she noticed something odd about the brush's usual bright shimmer.

The Fading Brush

Mother Goat stepped outside the castle with her seven kids bouncing around her hooves. She wanted to test her paintbrush in the fresh morning air.

"Watch this, my dears," she said, raising her giant magic paintbrush. She swept it through the air, expecting bright blue paint to flow from its tip.

Nothing happened.

"Mama, why isn't it working?" asked Crimson, tugging at her mother's rainbow cape.

Mother Goat frowned and tried again. This time, only the faintest gray wisp appeared before fading completely. Her golden eyes widened with worry.

"Something's wrong," she murmured.

Just then, a baker from the village came running up the hill toward the castle. His white apron was covered in flour, and his round face looked panicked.

"Mother Goat!" he called, waving his arms. "The colors in my bakery are disappearing! My red strawberry pies turned gray this morning, and now my yellow bread is fading too!"

Azure gasped. "The rainbow yesterday looked pale!"

Mother Goat's heart sank. If colors were vanishing everywhere, Canvas Valley was in terrible danger.
