Morning Patrol

Paint Doe stretched her arms as she stepped out of her cozy home in Paint Thicket. The morning sun cast colorful shadows through the paint-splattered trees that surrounded her neighborhood in the center of Canvas Forest City.

"Another beautiful day," she said, adjusting her paint-splat mask over her bright eyes.

She launched herself into the air with a gentle whoosh, her black supersuit gleaming as she soared above the bustling streets. Below, humanoid deer hurried to work alongside humans and various animal citizens. The city sparkled with vibrant murals on every building.

Paint Doe loved her morning patrol flights. She waved at Mrs. Rabbit, who was painting fresh flowers on her bakery window.

"Good morning, Paint Doe!" called Officer Bear from his patrol car.

She landed gracefully on a rooftop and used her X-ray vision to scan the downtown area. Everything seemed perfectly normal. The paint factories hummed with activity, and the art galleries displayed their newest exhibitions.

But something felt different today. The colors seemed just a tiny bit duller than usual.

The Gray Morning

Paint Doe landed on the town square fountain and gasped. The water that usually sparkled with rainbow reflections now ran completely gray.

"What in Canvas Forest?" she whispered, touching the colorless liquid with her blue gloves.

A small crowd gathered around her. Mrs. Rabbit hurried over, her white fur trembling with worry.

"Paint Doe, thank goodness you're here!" the rabbit baker exclaimed. "Look at my flowers!"

Paint Doe turned to see Mrs. Rabbit's bakery window. The beautiful painted flowers from this morning had faded to ugly gray smudges.

"When did this happen?" Paint Doe asked, using her X-ray vision to scan the area.

"About an hour ago," said a voice from above.

Paint Doe looked up to see a bright green parrot perched on a nearby streetlight. The bird wore tiny spectacles and held a miniature notepad in one claw.

"I'm Reporter Polly from Channel 8 News," the parrot announced. "I've been documenting this color drain across the entire downtown district. Seventeen buildings affected so far."

Paint Doe's heart sank. This wasn't just her imagination. Something was actually stealing the colors from Canvas Forest City.

"We need to find whoever's doing this," she said firmly.
