Morning Patrol

Super Crayon Doe stretched her arms as the first rays of sunlight touched the four crayon towers surrounding her home. The massive blue, red, yellow, and green towers gleamed like giant art supplies against the morning sky.

"Perfect day for patrol," she said, adjusting her orange cape. Her purple mask felt snug against her face as she prepared to check on Art Zoo Metropolis.

She stepped onto her balcony and gazed across the sprawling city. Colorful buildings dotted the landscape, their walls painted in bright murals. Humanoid elephants walked alongside regular humans on the busy streets below.

Her keen eyes spotted something odd near the museum district. A small gray patch seemed to be spreading across one of the bright yellow buildings.

"That's strange," she murmured, squinting for a better look.

Super Crayon Doe launched herself into the air, her cape billowing behind her. She needed to investigate this unusual sight immediately.

The Gray Creep

Super Crayon Doe soared through the crisp morning air, her orange cape streaming behind her. As she approached the museum district, the gray patch had doubled in size, creeping up the yellow building like spilled paint in reverse.

"What in the world?" she whispered, landing softly on the sidewalk.

A small humanoid monkey in a paint-splattered apron rushed past her, his brown fur streaked with worry. He clutched a palette that flickered between bright colors and dull gray.

"Excuse me!" Super Crayon Doe called. "What's happening here?"

The monkey skidded to a halt. "It's terrible! My name's Pablo, and I'm the street artist for this block. Something's draining all the colors from my murals!"

As Pablo spoke, Super Crayon Doe watched his palette lose more vibrant hues. The red turned to ash, the blue faded to silver.

"It started an hour ago," Pablo continued, his voice shaking. "First my paintings, then the building walls. Look!"

He pointed down the street where three more buildings showed growing gray patches. Citizens walked by, their clothing slowly losing brightness. A humanoid elephant's purple shirt had turned completely gray.

"This isn't natural," Super Crayon Doe said grimly.
