Morning Patrol

Ms. Crayon Camel stretched her sandy-tan arms above her head as the first rays of sunlight painted the sky orange and pink. She stood on the tallest tower of her fortress, her blue cape fluttering in the morning breeze.

"Another beautiful day in Craft Zoo City," she said to herself, adjusting her black supersuit. Her long lashes caught the golden light as she smiled warmly.

Below her, the city buzzed with activity. Paper airplane delivery workers swooped between buildings. A group of construction blocks rolled themselves into formation to build a new playground. Paintbrush people swept colorful strokes across sidewalks, creating moving murals.

Ms. Crayon Camel pulled out her giant glowing magic crayon. Its rainbow light pulsed gently in her hands. She always carried it during her morning flights around the city.

"Time for patrol," she announced, spreading her cape wide. She leaped from the tower and soared gracefully over the rooftops, ready to help anyone who needed her today.

The Gray Wave

Ms. Crayon Camel soared over the marketplace when she spotted something strange below. A baker stood frozen at his stall, his chocolate brown hair now a dull gray. His warm smile had vanished.

"Sir, are you okay?" she called, landing beside him.

The baker blinked slowly. "I... I can't remember why I loved baking," he said in a flat voice. His apron, once bright white with colorful flour stains, had turned completely gray.

Ms. Crayon Camel gasped as she noticed the gray spreading outward like ripples in a pond. A nearby jogger stopped mid-stride, her red running shoes fading to ash. Children's colorful chalk drawings on the sidewalk turned blank white.

"This is impossible," she whispered, pulling out her magic crayon. Its usual rainbow glow flickered weakly.

A small otter scurried past, its sleek brown fur now silver-gray. "Help!" the otter squeaked. "The color drain started at the old music shop! Everything it touches loses its brightness forever!"

Ms. Crayon Camel's heart raced. If this gray wave reached her fortress, would her powers disappear completely?
