Morning Announcements

Crayon Zebra Doe stretched her arms wide as she stepped onto the observation deck of CZD Tower. The morning sun painted Savannah Forest City in golden hues, highlighting the mix of acacia trees and pine groves that dotted the landscape between buildings.

"Another beautiful day to protect the city," she said to herself, adjusting her blue mask.

Her giant blue crayon materialized in her hand with a soft shimmer. She was about to practice her flight maneuvers when a voice crackled through the city's loudspeakers.

"Attention all citizens! The Annual Speed Sketch Competition begins today! Artists of all ages are invited to showcase their talents in Memorial Park. Registration starts at noon!"

Doe's ears perked up. She hadn't drawn anything besides crayon blasts in months. Maybe it was time to try something different.

"A simple art contest could be fun," she mused, watching early commuters—both humans and animal-folk—hurrying along the sidewalks below.

She tucked her crayon away and headed for the elevator.

The Unusual Clipboard

Doe stepped out of CZD Tower and headed toward Memorial Park. The sidewalks bustled with morning activity as she walked past coffee shops and bookstores.

"Excuse me, miss!" called a voice behind her.

She turned to see a humanoid otter jogging toward her. The otter wore a bright orange tracksuit and carried a clipboard.

"Are you here for the Speed Sketch Competition?" the otter asked, slightly out of breath. "I'm Coach Ripple, the event coordinator."

"Yes, I thought I'd give it a try," Doe replied.

Coach Ripple's whiskers twitched nervously. "Well, there's been a small change to the rules. The mayor just announced that whoever wins today's competition will become the city's official art protector."

"Art protector?"

"Someone to safeguard all the city's murals and sculptures," Coach Ripple explained. "But between you and me, I think there's more to this than they're telling us. Strange officials have been asking very specific questions about the contestants."

Doe felt her superhero instincts kick in. This simple art contest was starting to sound much more complicated than she'd expected.
