The Great French Fry Puppy Factory
Listen to audiobook
The Empty Tummy Blues
Spooky floated through the bright red McDonald's doors, his tiny purple witch hat wobbling. The smell of crispy french fries made his ghostly stomach rumble, but ghosts can't eat real food.
"Those look so yummy," he whispered, watching a little girl bite into golden fries.
Spooky drifted closer to the fryer where fresh fries sizzled in hot oil. He reached out with one wispy arm and touched a single fry. Something strange happened - it wiggled!
"Woof!" squeaked the fry.
Spooky blinked his big green eyes. The french fry had sprouted tiny legs and a wagging tail. It looked exactly like a golden puppy, complete with little ears made of potato.
"Oh my!" Spooky gasped, floating backward in surprise.
The Barking Surprise
The tiny french fry puppy wagged its golden tail and yapped at Spooky. Its potato ears flopped as it bounced around the fryer basket.
"Shh!" Spooky whispered, but more fries started wiggling. He had accidentally touched the whole batch!
Soon twenty little fry puppies tumbled out, barking and running everywhere. They scattered across the restaurant floor, their crispy legs clicking on the tiles.
The little girl with pigtails pointed and squealed with delight. "Mommy, look! Walking french fries!"
Her mother, a woman with short brown hair, dropped her coffee cup. It crashed to the floor, splashing everywhere.
"What in the world?" she gasped.
The fry puppies slipped and slid in the spilled coffee, barking louder. Other customers started shouting and pointing. Chaos filled the McDonald's as golden potato pups ran between tables.
