Morning Patrol
The sunrise painted Canvas Savannah City in shades of orange and pink. Paintbrush Lioness stood atop the highest tower of her fortress, golden fur catching the morning light. Her black and blue supersuit gleamed as she stretched, preparing for her daily patrol.
"Another peaceful morning," she said, adjusting her purple mask. Her giant paintbrush materialized in her hand, its bristles shimmering with faint magical energy.
Below, the city bustled with life. Human commuters hurried to work alongside lionfolk merchants setting up their colorful market stalls. Artists painted murals on building walls while children played in rainbow-bright parks.
Paintbrush Lioness launched herself into the sky, soaring between the towers. Everything looked perfect – vibrant flowers bloomed in window boxes, street art sparkled on every corner, and laughter echoed from the playgrounds.
She landed gracefully near the central fountain, where Mayor Goldmane, a distinguished older lioness, was giving her morning speech to reporters.
"Our city has never been more beautiful," the mayor declared proudly.
The Silent Delivery
As Mayor Goldmane finished her speech, a mail truck rumbled to a stop beside the fountain. The driver, a young human woman with short brown hair, jumped out carrying a large silver box.
"Special delivery for the mayor," she called, jogging toward them with the mysterious package.
Paintbrush Lioness felt something strange. Her power sensing ability tingled, but she couldn't identify what kind of energy was coming from the box.
"I didn't order anything," Mayor Goldmane said, frowning as she accepted the package.
The mail carrier shrugged. "Says it's from the Color Council. Have a great day!" She hopped back into her truck and drove off.
Mayor Goldmane opened the box carefully. Inside lay what looked like an ordinary gray stone, about the size of a softball.
"How disappointing," the mayor muttered.
Suddenly, the stone began to pulse with a dim light. Gray waves rippled outward from it like ripples on water.
Paintbrush Lioness watched in horror as the waves touched the bright flowers in nearby planters. Instantly, all their colors drained away, leaving them pale and lifeless.
"What's happening?" Mayor Goldmane gasped, her amber eyes wide with alarm.
The gray waves continued spreading, touching buildings, street art, and everything colorful in their path.
