A Morning of Books
Twilight Sparkle trotted through her tree castle library, humming softly as morning sunlight streamed through the windows. Books floated around her in neat stacks, organizing themselves on towering shelves.
"Perfect!" she said, admiring her work. "Everything's exactly where it should be."
Spike yawned from his basket near the fireplace. "Do you ever take a break from organizing, Twilight?"
"Books need proper care, Spike. Especially rare ones." She gestured toward a special shelf where ancient spell books sat behind glass. "Like Starswirl the Bearded's collection. These are irreplaceable!"
Rainbow Dash burst through the front door. "Come on, Twilight! It's too nice to stay inside!"
"Just finishing up," Twilight called back, levitating one last book toward the special shelf.
But the book slipped from her magical grip, tumbling behind a tall bookcase with a loud thud.
"Oops." Twilight peered into the narrow gap. The book had vanished completely into the shadows.
The Sparrow's Warning
"Oh no!" Twilight gasped, pressing her face against the narrow gap between the bookcase and the wall. "I can't see it anywhere!"
Spike waddled over, scales clicking on the wooden floor. "What's the big deal? It's just one book."
"Just one book?" Twilight's voice climbed higher. "Spike, that was Starswirl's Guide to Advanced Transformation Magic! It contains spells that could turn somepony into a cactus permanently!"
Rainbow Dash's cyan wings folded tight against her sides. "Wait, what? You lost a dangerous spell book?"
"It's not lost, it's just... misplaced behind furniture." Twilight's horn glowed as she tried to levitate the heavy bookcase, but it wouldn't budge. "These cases are bolted to the floor for safety."
A sparrow suddenly flew through the open window, chirping frantically and circling the room. It landed on Twilight's horn, tweeting urgently.
"What's it saying?" Rainbow Dash asked.
Twilight's eyes widened. "Animal communication spell... it says something big and purple fell into the town fountain twenty minutes ago. But that's impossible unless..." She gulped. "Unless the book bounced off something and flew out the back window."
