The Invention Competition Chaos
Listen to audiobook
Morning Preparations
Creative Crayon Sow stood in her colorful fortress, surrounded by towering crayon walls that gleamed in the morning sunlight. The blue-and-black supersuit fit perfectly as she adjusted her light-blue cape and checked her utility belt one more time.
"Today's the day!" she announced to her workshop, where half-finished inventions cluttered every surface. Springs bounced from mechanical gadgets, while colorful crayon shavings covered her workbench like confetti.
She picked up a flyer from Canvas Ranch City Hall. The annual invention competition promised a grand prize that would fund her next big project. Her rounded snout wrinkled with concentration as she read the rules aloud.
"Must be original, functional, and beneficial to the community." She tapped her light-blue crayon against her chin. "I've got just the thing."
Walking to her latest creation, she pulled away a paint-splattered tarp. Underneath sat a peculiar machine with spinning brushes, color tubes, and what looked like a giant crayon melting chamber.
"The Automatic Art Assistant 3000," she declared proudly. "This will help everyone in Canvas Ranch City create beautiful artwork, even if they can't draw a straight line!"
But as she powered up the machine for one final test, something sparked.
Sparks and Surprises
Blue sparks danced across the workshop as smoke poured from the Automatic Art Assistant 3000. Creative Crayon Sow coughed and waved her cape to clear the air.
"Not again!" she groaned, rushing to flip the power switch. But as the machine sputtered to a stop, something incredible happened.
The half-finished crayon drawings scattered across her workbench began to wiggle. A purple butterfly she had sketched yesterday fluttered its paper wings and lifted off the table. A green frog drawing hopped across her blueprints, leaving tiny footprints.
"What in Canvas Ranch City is happening?" Creative Crayon Sow stared as more drawings came to life. A red race car zoomed between her tools while a yellow sunflower swayed without any breeze.
Just then, her doorbell chimed. She opened the fortress door to find Melody Hummingbird hovering outside, her tiny wings beating rapidly. The hummingbird wore a miniature tool belt and safety goggles.
"I heard an explosion!" Melody chirped. "Are you okay? The invention competition starts in two hours!"
Behind Creative Crayon Sow, the paper butterfly crashed into a lamp, and the frog drawing croaked loudly.
