The Peculiar Awakening

Mariza's eyes fluttered open to a sky painted in impossible shades of purple and green. The grass beneath her felt softer than velvet, tickling her fingertips as she pushed herself up.

"Where am I?" she whispered, brushing dirt from her jacket.

Giant mushrooms dotted the landscape like colorful umbrellas, some tall enough to sit under. A path made of mismatched stones wound through the strange meadow, leading toward a forest where the trees seemed to shimmer and dance.

Mariza touched the turquoise strands in her hair, making sure they were still there. Everything felt real enough, but this definitely wasn't her bedroom. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep after feeling dizzy and weak.

A peculiar sound caught her attention - someone humming a tune she'd never heard before. Following the melody, she spotted a girl with golden hair sitting by a pond, talking to what looked like a very large rabbit wearing a waistcoat.

The Golden-Haired Girl

Mariza crept closer to the pond, her sneakers silent on the mossy ground. The golden-haired girl wore a blue dress with a white apron, and she looked about Mariza's age.

"I simply must get home," the girl was saying to the rabbit. "The Queen of Hearts grows more impatient by the hour."

"Alice?" Mariza called out softly.

The girl spun around, her blue eyes wide with surprise. "Oh! You startled me. I'm Alice, yes. But who are you?"

"I'm Mariza. I just woke up here and I have no idea where I am."

Alice's face brightened. "You're in Wonderland, of course! Though I've been trying to find my way out for ages." She gestured to the rabbit, who tipped his tiny hat. "This is the White Rabbit."

"We're both stuck?" Mariza asked, stepping closer.

"Quite stuck indeed," Alice sighed. "But perhaps together we might find a solution. Two heads are better than one, as they say."

The rabbit checked his pocket watch and frowned. "The Queen expects her croquet game to begin soon."

Alice grabbed Mariza's hand. "Come on! We'll figure this out together."
