Morning Routines and Strange Signals

Ms. Crayon Pangolin stretched her tan-brown scales as morning sunlight streamed through her mansion's crystal windows. She adjusted her blue mask and smoothed her red cape before stepping onto the balcony.

"Another beautiful day in Shell Metropolis," she said, watching turtle citizens slowly making their way to work below.

Her giant glowing blue crayon hummed softly in her hand as she prepared for her daily tower inspection. The four crayon towers surrounding her mansion usually sparkled with vibrant colors—red, yellow, green, and purple—sending waves of creative energy across the city.

But today something felt different.

The red tower's glow seemed dimmer than usual. Ms. Crayon squinted, using her X-ray vision to peer closer. The energy readings looked normal, but the light definitely appeared weaker.

"Probably just the morning shadows," she murmured, though her curious eyes remained fixed on the tower.

A humanoid snail named Sheldon slithered past on the street below, his usually cheerful painting forgotten as he stared blankly at his canvas.

The Empty Canvas

Ms. Crayon Pangolin decided to investigate further. She swooped down from her balcony, her red cape billowing behind her as she landed gracefully beside Sheldon the snail.

"Good morning, Sheldon," she said cheerfully. "Working on a new masterpiece?"

The snail looked up with confused eyes. His spiral shell gleamed in the sunlight, but his usual artistic spark seemed completely gone.

"I can't remember what I wanted to paint," Sheldon said slowly. "The colors in my mind feel... empty."

Ms. Crayon's curious eyes widened. This was more serious than a dimming tower.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed with an emergency alert. The screen showed a breaking news report: "CREATIVE CRISIS SPREADS ACROSS SHELL METROPOLIS - Artists, Writers, and Musicians Report Complete Loss of Imagination."

Before she could process this fully, a small delivery drone whizzed overhead and crashed into a nearby lamppost. The drone's operator, a young humanoid armadillo girl with brown eyes and short black hair, came running around the corner wearing a bright yellow delivery uniform.

"My drone won't respond to my commands!" she called out frantically. "It's like I forgot how to think creatively about flying it!"
