Morning Announcements

Crayon Jack stretched his arms as morning sunlight streamed through the crystal windows of Crayon Fortress. The four colorful towers gleamed like birthday candles against the Forest Meadow City skyline.

"Jack! Jack!" Darlene Deer bounced into the main room, her fluffy pink house coat swishing around her hooves. Her brown eyes sparkled with excitement. "Did you see the poster?"

Grace Goat trotted in behind her, adjusting her yellow towel. "The whole city's talking about it!"

Stella Sheep peeked around the corner, clutching a purple house coat. "It's going to be amazing!"

Jack raised an eyebrow. "What poster?"

Darlene thrust a colorful flyer toward him. "The Forest Meadow City Art Contest! First prize is ten thousand dollars!"

Jack's blue eyes widened as he read. His giant glowing crayon materialized in his hand, humming softly.

"You have to enter!" Grace exclaimed.

"You're the best artist ever!" Stella added.

Jack grinned confidently. "This'll be easy."

The Practice Room

Jack marched confidently toward the Forest Meadow City Art Center, his cape fluttering behind him. The morning air buzzed with excitement as colorful banners fluttered from every lamppost.

"This is it!" he announced, pushing through the glass doors.

Inside, dozens of artists hunched over easels, brushes dancing across canvases. A woman with short silver hair and paint-stained apron looked up from her clipboard.

"Registration?" she asked briskly.

"Crayon Jack, superhero artist extraordinaire," he declared, summoning his giant glowing crayon with a flourish.

The woman raised an eyebrow. "Equipment inspection first."

She led him to a practice area where a small humanoid koala sat sketching delicate flower petals with incredible precision. Jack watched, mesmerized by the tiny artist's skill.

"Your turn," the woman said, pointing to a blank canvas.

Jack gripped his glowing crayon confidently and began to draw. Lines appeared on the canvas—stick arms, stick legs, a circle head.

"Is that..." the woman squinted, "a person?"

Jack's confident grin faltered. His masterpiece looked like something a kindergartner might create.

"Maybe I need practice," he mumbled.
