Morning Patrol

info-banner

Crayon Chris stepped out onto the observation deck of his tower, the morning sun casting long shadows across Canvas Metropolis below. The city buzzed with its usual energy as humanoid deer, goats, and sheep hurried along the sidewalks alongside humans heading to work.

"Another peaceful morning," he said, adjusting his blue mask. His giant crayon gleamed in the sunlight as he scanned the streets with his X-ray vision, checking for any trouble.

A movement in Harmony Park caught his attention. A lone figure sat hunched on a bench, completely still while everyone else moved around her. She had antlers and wore a faded green sweater that seemed too big for her small frame. Even from this distance, Chris could see she was crying.

"That's not right," he murmured. In all his years protecting the city, he'd learned that sometimes the smallest problems needed the biggest hearts to solve them.

Chris spread his arms and took flight, his cape flowing behind him as he glided toward the park.

Chris landed softly near the bench where the humanoid deer sat crying. Her brown fur was damp with tears, and her green sweater hung loosely around her thin shoulders.

"Hey there," Chris said gently, keeping his distance so he wouldn't startle her. "Are you okay?"

The deer looked up with wide amber eyes, then quickly looked away. "I'm fine," she whispered, but her voice cracked.

"I'm Chris. What's your name?"

"Luna," she said, wiping her nose with her sweater sleeve. "But you don't want to talk to me. Nobody does."

Before Chris could respond, a jogger in bright yellow shorts ran past and accidentally knocked over Luna's small backpack. Art supplies scattered everywhere—broken crayons, torn paper, and a small sketchbook that fell open to reveal beautiful drawings of flowers and butterflies.

"Oh no!" Luna cried, scrambling to collect her things. "My art!"

Chris quickly helped gather the supplies. As he picked up the sketchbook, he saw page after page of incredible artwork. "Luna, these drawings are amazing!"

"Really?" she asked, looking shocked. "But I'm just a weird deer who draws alone."

"Weird?" Chris smiled. "These are the most beautiful drawings I've ever seen."
