Morning Routine

Art Zone stretched his arms above his head as the morning sun streamed through the tall windows of his AZ Fortress bedroom. The familiar sounds of Canvas Metropolis waking up drifted through the glass - honking cars, chattering pedestrians, and the distant hum of the city's art supply factories.

He pulled on his blue and black supersuit, adjusting the flowing red cape across his shoulders. The yellow gloves and boots felt snug and comfortable, just like every morning for the past three years since he'd become the city's protector.

"Time to check the towers," he said to himself, sliding his black sunglass goggles into place.

Art Zone walked through the fortress corridors, past walls covered in colorful ink and paint splats from yesterday's training session. He stopped at the central control room, where five monitoring screens showed the status of each tower: pencil, crayon, pen, marker, and paintbrush.

Four screens glowed steady green. The fifth - the paintbrush tower - flickered orange.

The Warning Call

Art Zone stepped closer to the flickering paintbrush tower monitor. Orange meant maintenance needed, but nothing serious had happened with any tower in over two years.

"Computer, run full diagnostics on paintbrush tower," he said.

The screen flashed red. "WARNING: PAINTBRUSH TOWER MALFUNCTION. WILD ART CREATION DETECTED."

Art Zone's stomach dropped. Through the fortress windows, he could see colorful streaks shooting across the morning sky above Canvas Metropolis. Citizens were running in all directions as painted tigers bounded down Main Street and sketch birds dove at windows.

His phone buzzed. Mayor Henderson's panicked voice filled the control room.

"Art Zone! Giant painted flowers are blocking traffic on Fifth Avenue! A watercolor elephant just crashed into the bank! What's happening?"

Art Zone grabbed his cape and rushed toward the exit. "I'm on my way, Mayor. Keep everyone indoors until I figure this out."

He paused at the door, looking back at the red warning screen. Someone had sabotaged his tower. But who would want to terrorize Canvas Metropolis with living art?

The phone rang again. This time, a woman's voice spoke calmly.

"Enjoying the show, Art Zone? This is just the beginning."
