The Canvas Competition Crisis
Listen to audiobook
Morning Messenger
Paintbrush Mother Goat stood atop the highest tower of her fortress, watching the sunrise paint Canvas Fairy Tale Land in brilliant orange and pink. Her blue and black dress fluttered in the morning breeze as she adjusted her sleek black mask.
"Another peaceful day," she murmured, gripping her giant glowing paintbrush.
A messenger fairy zipped through her window, wings sparkling with excitement.
"Mother Goat! The Annual Canvas Competition has been announced!" the tiny fairy squeaked. "Artists from across the land will compete for the Golden Palette Trophy!"
Mother Goat's brown eyes widened. She had always dreamed of entering such a contest.
"When does it begin?" she asked.
"Registration starts tomorrow at Town Square! But be warned—rumors say some contestants might not play fair this year."
The fairy's warning made Mother Goat frown. She believed art should come from the heart, not from tricks or cheating.
"Thank you for telling me," Mother Goat said. "I think it's time to show everyone what true creativity looks like."
Market Day Discoveries
The next morning, Paintbrush Mother Goat flew down from her fortress toward Town Square. The bustling marketplace stretched below her, filled with colorful tents and chattering voices.
She landed gracefully near the registration booth, where an elderly woman sat behind a wooden table. The woman wore a purple shawl dotted with tiny paintbrushes and had silver hair twisted into a neat bun.
"Welcome to the Annual Canvas Competition!" the woman chirped. "I'm Granny Palette, the contest coordinator."
Mother Goat signed her name on the registration scroll. "I'm excited to participate."
"Wonderful! But I must warn you," Granny Palette's voice dropped to a whisper. "I've heard some contestants plan to use enchanted paints that create perfect pictures without any real skill."
Mother Goat's grip tightened on her magic paintbrush. "That's terrible! Art should come from the heart."
"Exactly! The contest is tomorrow at dawn. The theme is 'Heroes of Canvas Fairy Tale Land.' May the best true artist win!"
As Mother Goat walked away, she noticed several suspicious contestants purchasing mysterious bottles from a shadowy vendor's cart.
