The Unexpected Doorbell

Lily LoveBraids bounced on her toes in the center of her Purple House, her three long braids swinging with each excited movement. Streamers in every color imaginable hung from the ceiling, and her favorite anime music played softly from her phone.

"Oh my goodness, this is going to be the best party ever!" she squealed, adjusting the big yellow star on her black overall skirt.

Her friend Candy, a girl with bright pink pigtails and a candy-striped dress, sat cross-legged on the purple carpet, blowing up balloons.

"Are you sure people will come?" Candy asked, tying off a green balloon.

"Of course they will! I sent invitations to everyone!" Lily spun around, her purple shoes squeaking on the floor.

The doorbell rang three times in quick succession - ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong.

"See? They're here!" Lily rushed toward the door, but Candy grabbed her arm.

"Wait, Lily. That didn't sound like normal doorbell ringing."

Lily paused, her violet eyes sparkling. "Well, maybe they're just really excited!"

The Unexpected Arrivals

Lily grabbed the purple door handle and yanked it open with a huge smile.

"Welcome to my amazing—oh!" Her violet eyes went wide.

Three figures stood on her doorstep, but they weren't the friends she expected. The first was an elderly woman with silver hair piled high in a messy bun, wearing a bright orange apron covered in question marks. She held a small wooden box that rattled mysteriously.

"Oh my goodness!" Lily gasped, stepping backward.

Behind the woman stood two identical robots, their chrome bodies gleaming under the porch light. Their LED eyes blinked blue in perfect sync.

"Greetings, Lily LoveBraids," the robots said together in mechanical voices.

Candy jumped up from the carpet, pink pigtails bouncing. "I don't think they're here for the party, Lily."

The elderly woman smiled warmly. "Actually, dear, we received your invitation through some rather unusual channels."

"Well of course they are, Candy! Why else would they make me be here?!" Lily spun around excitedly, her braids whirling. "We're going to have so much fun!"

The woman's box rattled again, louder this time.
