The Silent Canvas Mystery
Listen to audiobook
The Blue Mask's Discovery
Artist Doe adjusted her blue mask and checked her utility belt one final time. The crayons, markers, and brushes sat perfectly organized in their slots. Her light-brown fur caught the morning sunlight streaming through the massive windows of the Art Gallery Fortress.
"Another quiet day at the gallery," she muttered, her small antlers casting shadows on the polished floor.
The fortress stood tall in the center of Canvas Metropolis, its four towers reaching toward the clouds. Humans and humanoid deer wandered the galleries below, admiring colorful paintings and sculptures. Artist Doe loved watching visitors discover new artwork, their faces lighting up with wonder.
A soft scratching sound echoed from the east wing. Artist Doe's ears perked up. Someone was drawing after hours?
She flew silently down the corridor, her blue and black supersuit helping her blend with the shadows. The scratching grew louder. Through her x-ray vision, she spotted a small figure hunched over a canvas, working frantically with charcoal.
The mysterious artist had light-brown fur and wore a simple green dress. She worked with incredible skill, creating something beautiful.
The Copper Warning
Artist Doe stepped closer, her hooves silent on the marble floor. The mysterious deer girl worked with incredible focus, her charcoal dancing across the canvas. The drawing showed Canvas Metropolis from above, but something was wrong. Buildings were missing, replaced by empty spaces.
"That's beautiful," Artist Doe said softly.
The girl jumped, dropping her charcoal. Her brown eyes went wide with panic. She grabbed her drawing and bolted toward the exit.
"Wait!" Artist Doe called out, but the girl was already gone.
Artist Doe picked up the fallen charcoal stick. Something metallic clinked nearby. A small copper box lay hidden behind a sculpture, covered in strange symbols. Inside, she found dozens of sketches showing buildings throughout the city - all marked with big red X's.
Her phone buzzed with an emergency alert: "Building collapse on Marble Street. Cause unknown."
Artist Doe's heart raced. She looked at the sketches again. Marble Street's coffee shop was marked with an X. The shy artist wasn't just drawing pretty pictures. She was predicting disasters.
