Morning at the Unicorn

Zyra Girl pushed open the glass door of And The Unicorn café in Roy's Bedoys. The smell of fresh pastries made her stomach rumble. She loved coming here before school started.

"Good morning, Zyra!" called Mrs. Chen from behind the counter. "Your usual blueberry muffin?"

"Yes, please!" Zyra bounced on her red sneakers. The star clips in her hair caught the morning sunlight streaming through the windows.

She chose her favorite corner table near the window. Outside, she could see other kids walking to school with their backpacks. The café was quiet except for the soft hum of the coffee machine.

Zyra pulled out her math homework from her yellow backpack. She had three problems left to finish. As she worked, she noticed something odd in the garden behind the café. A rabbit was sitting perfectly still, staring right at her through the window.

The Talking Visitor

But this wasn't any ordinary rabbit. It hopped right up to the window and pressed its paws against the glass. Its eyes were wild with panic.

"Help me!" squeaked a voice that sounded strangely familiar.

Zyra dropped her pencil. Rabbits didn't talk. She looked closer and gasped. Those weren't rabbit eyes at all. They were the clever, golden eyes of Bro Fox from the woods behind her school.

"Bro Fox? Is that really you?" she whispered.

The rabbit nodded frantically. "Some crazy magic switched me with a rabbit! I'm stuck in this fluffy body, and somewhere out there, a scared little rabbit is running around in my fox form!"

Mrs. Chen called from across the café, but Zyra was already grabbing her backpack. This was the wildest problem she'd ever encountered.
